In the last few years, I've made a decent income from building web sites only part time...And the tool of choice is without a doubt Dreamweaver.
There are 3 functions of Dreamweaver which aren't very obvious, but when learned, are capable of transforming you from a newbie into a highly capable web site builder...
And fortunately, these 3 features only take about an hour to learn!
This is my personal formula for quickly creating web sites that are compatible with over 95% of browsers, take only an hour or 2 to build, are easy to update and add new content to.
Feature 1: Dreamweaver Template Files - These allow you to create a base template to use for the construction of your web site. Once you learn this feature, you can have a huge web site...Anywhere from 5 pages to 5,000 pages that you can be modified with only a few keystrokes.
Let's say you work hard and create a 30 page website...But then you realize you want to add an extra column to the layout. No problem. Just use the Dreamweaver template features I show you and you can have all 30 pages (or 300 pages for that matter) updated and uploaded in just a minute or 2.
Feature 2: Server Side Includes - This feature allows you to create separate files and 'include' them throughout your template.
Say for example you have a navigation menu on your web site with 20 hyperlinks on it, and this menu appears on dozens of pages throughout your site. If you wanted to add a link to this menu and didn't know how to use server side includes, you'd probably have to open up every web page with this menu and add the link manually, wasting time.
With server side includes feature that I'll show you, just open up one file and add the link, upload that file, and all of the pages that use this included file are instantly updated!
Feature 3: External CSS - External Cascading Style Sheets allow you to control colors and fonts on your web site using one separate CSS file.
If you're not a techie and barely know what CSS is, don't even worry. With the built in Dreamweaver CSS tools I show you, it is extremely easy and extremely useful! Let's say you built a 20 page site for a client, and they said they didn't like the fonts. Without an external CSS sheet, you would have to manually modify all the pages. With the external CSS sheet I show you, you can switch the fonts all throughout the site in just seconds! CSS can be used for tons of other things too, and I'll show you just how easy it is for you to make use of
